This is the feeding center that we work at. The meal consists of beans and rice, and for many of these homeless children, its the only meal available. The older children come bringing the younger ones... most seem to be under 10. The children all sing and pray while they wait to be served. Its both beautiful and heart wrenching to be a part of.
After the "Trees for Tanzania" project, we held a small but touching ceremony. The project included planting trees, shrubs and grasses and building a dam system to help with the severe erosion problem in the area.
Paul and I at Jacobson Beach. A small private beach that is a little "get away" just outside of Kigoma. Its a great way to relax on the weekends (although we have been able to get out there once so far)
Paul, the expert welder! He mentioned to someone that he "took a class once..." and was the "go-to" for welding ever since.
A pretty typical house- this one is just outside of the city. The houses are made with clay bricks (that they bake in these oven things) and grass roofs. They are usually just one room, have no electricity and have dirt floors.
Thats all for now! We will try to post more in a month or so. For now- stay tuned for Paul's blog about the election (its today!). The post should be up later this week (but hopefully it isn't TOO eventful...)
I'm glad to see that your doing the welding Paul and not Sarah...keep up the good work.
