Nyarugusu

Last weekend we visited a Congolese refugee camp called Nyarugusu. The reason for the trip was to conduct a women's seminar. Claudia, myself and two women from a short-term team each gave a short speech on various topics. I found it challenging to prepare for this speech (as I do with all teaching here) because it was especially difficult to relate to these women and say something meaningful to them after they had gone through so much. The women were really grateful for our company, and appreciated any encouragement that we gave.
Here are a few pictures from the trip.

This is what happens if you stop on the side of the road in a village. You get mobbed by all the mamas in the village trying to sell you fruits and vegetables. Its worth it though, you can get so much for so little!

Paul and Mwenge outside of the refugee camp.

Speaking to a crowd of about 200 women. I was nervous at first, but the women made me feel right at home.

In the refugee camp with some school boys... the kids here always want their pictures taken.
